Open Stage

Open Stage is held every Monday at The House of Poets next to The Peace Pipe Hookah Lounge on Arapaho Road in Richardson. Singers, dancers, musicians, magicians, comics, clowns, strippers, and more have graced the stage for a loud and appreciative audience.

This week I shared "Ode to the Panty" by Shira and my audition piece for the Frills & Thrills Burlesque Revue, "Man Wanted."

Fan Veils

Open Stage is held every Monday at The House of Poets next to The Peace Pipe Hookah Lounge on Arapaho Road in Richardson. Singers, dancers, musicians, magicians, comics, clowns, strippers, and more have graced the stage for a loud and appreciative audience.

The vibe is beautiful and I didn't want to leave as the night partied on, but an early alarm for work left me no choice. Below is my first performance at Open Stage, and I hope there will be many more to come.

Dragon Master fire spinning

Dragon Master is an arts and cultural competition held every 6 months in Amtgard, a medieval combat recreation group. I had about a month's advance notice, and this was my first chance to enter a cultural competition since I got home from Korea. I was really excited to do some fire spinning, but we're in the middle of something like the worst drought ever. Also it's illegal except on private property, so I decided to submit electronically.

I attempted a nighttime fire poi video, but it didn't turn out very well:

Here is what the daytime version looks like:

I'll let you know when I learn my scores. :)

Frills & Thrills & Classes, oh my!

Starting Aug. 31, just in time for the fall semester, I'll be teaching burlesque dance classes at Big Mike's Coffee, 1306 W. Hickory St. in Denton. Wednesdays 6:30 to 7:30 PM at $10 per class or $35 for the month.

We'll focus on the silly, sassy, and sexy cabaret and titillating storytelling through dance unlike the stripteases of common shows. I performed with the Frills & Thrills Burlesque Revue of Seoul, South Korea, in the first half of this year and am looking forward to bringing their unique combination of sultry style and fun frills to Denton.

These classes will be all about empowering you to find your inner show-stopper without any risque requirements. So feel free to drop in or send me a message with any questions.

What to wear: workout or yoga gear, bras, panties, corsets, tutus, fishnets, lace, pearls, and a smile! Take your pick of whatever you'll feel comfortable wearing to dance.

Resurrecting this blog

So I fell out of practice writing about dance, but that doesn't mean I've stopped dancing for even a second.

From January of this year, I performed with the Frills & Thrills Burlesque Revue, the first burlesque troupe to take on Seoul, South Korea. Hailed for their unique style of fun frills and sassy storytelling through dance, with a splash of striptease now and then, it was such an exciting opportunity, and I just can't stop!

As soon as I returned to Texas, I began teaching burlesque workshops and will make my local performance debut near the end of the month. (I'll post the details as it draws closer).

Here are some Frills & Thrills pictures from St. Patrick's Day.

Belly dance audition

I threw this together one afternoon for an audition to teach. I didn't have any choreo ready, so this is improvisation to a few of my favorite songs.

I never heard back on the audition even after calling the offices twice to leave a message. :/
